SAVE TROY DAVIS: Protests and Phone Jam, Sept 16-19

WE ARE MOBILIZED! After the Community Roots meeting tonight we’ve decided that it’s time for us to take action! There are over 30,000 students at this school and we have the power to make a huge difference. We can not and will not let Troy Davis be executed next Wednesday, so we have to make some serious moves on campus and in the community.

We’re starting the movement tomorrow (Friday) morning at 11 am by flyering and talking to people all over campus. Be at the Student Involvement Suite in Stamp if you want to help with this part of the day by handing out flyers or . Later on in the evening, we’re going to head to DC for a massive protest as a part of the National Day of Action regarding Davis’ case. If you plan on going to the protest, meet at Stamp by 5 pm so that we can head downtown together.

Sunday evening, we’re meeting at 5 pm to get ready for the next step we’re taking on Monday. We will be going around campus flyering again and chalking to prepare for our massive phone jam and education session on the Mall on Monday.

Then Monday morning, we will be meeting at the top of the Mall by McKeldin at 10 am. We will have people there all day with phone numbers for the governor of Georgia along with the Board of Parole assigned to Davis’ case. This is the most important part of all of this so please, please, please try and show up!!!

Invite everyone you know! We can make a difference!!!! Click here for the facebook event!

No Taxes for Israeli Occupation Rally, Sept 15

THURSDAY EVENING, September 15–the International Day of Democracy and and five days prior to the Palestinian bid for UN membership–we will take to the streets and demand that the United States government support true democracy in all of the Middle East, not just the places that are near and dear to special interest groups.

We believe that the 30 billion in US tax dollars earmarked for Israel is an obstacle to Palestinian self-determination and human rights. We call for an end to this destructive financial aid and an end to the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory.
