Olympic Bronze Medalist John Carlos at UMD, Oct 4

The Nyumburu Black Male Initiative Program and Stamp Student Union are inviting the public to come meet, and listen to one of the cultural icons of the 1960s Black Power & Civil Rights Movement, Dr. John Carlos. Dr. Carlos will be discussing his extraordinary life and new biography. Dr. Carlos is a 1968 Olympic Bronze Medalist who used his public stature to raise his fist in solidarity with oppressed Black People and to bring awareness to the inhumane treatment of Black People in America. He helped set the precedent for other black athletes to follow.
